This beautiful hike fulfills every wish of mountain lovers: authentic alpine landscapes, lush flora, traditional mountain huts, and spectacular views of the Alps and Dolomites. A varied and rewarding route, ideal for well-prepared hikers.
The tour begins at 1600 m, just below the tree line in Chienes. From the Gelenke Parking, the trail winds through larches and spruces, gently ascending to the Moarhof-Alm, a managed hut where you can take a break and enjoy local products.
After the stop, the path continues to the lower Grünbachalm pastures, crossing flower-filled meadows and rocky slopes. The landscape is a botanical wonder: alpine roses, junipers, wild berries, blueberry bushes, and mountain azaleas line the way.
In a quiet hollow lies the Lago Verde, peaceful and solitary, nestled among the rocks. It’s the perfect spot for a contemplative pause before tackling the final ascent.
After the lake, the trail becomes steeper and leads to the Cima di Pozzo, where a breathtaking panorama unfolds: to the north, the snow-covered Zillertal Alps, and to the south, the iconic Dolomites.
On the descent, hikers are often greeted by the whistle of marmots, quickly disappearing into their many burrows. The return follows a loop trail that leads back to the Gelenke parking lot, completing a rich and fulfilling hiking experience.
