The hike to Monte Brugnol is one of the most fascinating and authentic ascents in the Giudicarie Esteriori: a long, rewarding route offering spectacular views over some of the most iconic mountain ranges in Trentino. The trail begins in the quiet hamlet of Seo, in the municipality of Stenico, where a forest road starts from the village square and immediately immerses you in the rural atmosphere of the area. After about 500 metres, the route turns into an old mule track lined with majestic centuries‑old beech and oak trees—a historic path once used by farmers to transport hay downhill on wooden sledges, whose marks are still visible along the way.
The climb continues for about an hour and a half with a steady zig‑zag pattern through the forest, becoming increasingly panoramic as you gain altitude. Reaching the area known as I Salti, the trail narrows and steepens, leading to the top of the grassy ridge. From here, the landscape opens completely: the path continues across wide alpine meadows until it reaches the summit of Monte Brugnol (2221 m), a natural balcony that fully rewards the effort of the ascent.
From the top, the view stretches in every direction: the Val di Jon, the majestic Brenta Group, the Giudicarie Esteriori, the deep blue of Lake Garda, the Trentino Prealps, the Adamello‑Presanella massif and, in the distance, the Rhaetian Alps. A vast and breathtaking panorama, perfect for photography lovers and those who enjoy wide alpine vistas.
For the return, it is recommended to follow the same route back, although more experienced hikers can continue along the entire ridge to Cimon delle Pozze, then descend towards Stenico for a longer and wilder loop.
