Monte Maggio is one of the most fascinating destinations on the Alpe Cimbra: a border peak overlooking the Veneto–Vicenza valleys, with views that stretch as far as the Venetian lagoon on the clearest days. The circular trail leading to the summit is an easy alpine hike rich in history and sweeping panoramas, ideal even for families with children aged 6 and up.
Panoramic ascent from Bivio dei Camini
The hike begins at Bivio dei Camini, where the path winds through spruce forests and bright clearings. The ascent is gentle and steady, perfect for those looking for a relaxing trek filled with scenic viewpoints. As you gain altitude, the landscape opens over the upper Val di Terragnolo, the Borcola Pass and the majestic Pasubio massif, one of the symbolic mountains of the First World War.
The summit of Monte Maggio
Once you reach the ridge, the panorama becomes wide and spectacular. The summit of Monte Maggio (1853 m) offers a full 360° view; on exceptionally clear days, the horizon stretches all the way to the Venetian lagoon. The large summit cross adds a powerful historical and emotional touch to this remarkable viewpoint.
The return to Passo Coe
The descent follows a section of the European E5 Trail, crossing quiet forests and scenic viewpoints that invite a photo stop. The route gently leads toward Passo Coe, naturally and pleasantly closing the loop. Here the landscape opens once again, offering a final view of the Alpe Cimbra mountains before returning to the starting point.
