AVS Trail

This hike along the AVS trail is considered challenging, not due to technical difficulty but because it requires good physical endurance. The path climbs steadily, with some steep sections, though it is never exposed or dangerous. It’s ideal for trained hikers who want to immerse themselves in nature and reach one of the most scenic summits in the area.

From the summit of Plan de Corones, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree view: on one side, the majestic Dolomites, and on the other, the main Alpine ridge stretching across the horizon.

Start: Valley station of the cable car in Riscone, easily reachable from Brunico by Citybus.

Route: Follow trail no. 6 (AVS), which winds through the forest with sustained climbs. In some sections, the path runs alongside the cable car line, offering panoramic glimpses and useful landmarks.

Final stretch: After passing the mid-station of cable car 1-2, continue partly along a forest road until reaching the summit of Plan de Corones, the highlight of the hike.

This experience is perfect for those seeking a physical challenge surrounded by greenery, with the reward of spectacular views and the satisfaction of reaching one of South Tyrol’s iconic peaks.
