The charming Mountain Pine Trail on the Villandro Alp leads through a truly unique landscape and offers breathtaking views of the Dolomites.
The starting point is the Saltnerstein car park near the Gasserhütte hut (1,744 m). From there, follow trail no. 6/15 uphill towards Mair in Plun. In the mountain pine fields, turn right at the first junction after the dam and follow trail no. 24 to the Am Rinderplatz hut (1,799 m). Continue along trail no. 23 until you reach forest road no. 15, then follow the signs “Laschenweg – Mountain Pine Trail”. The path leads back to Mair in Plun (1,860 m) and shortly afterwards branches left to the Marzuner Schupfe hut (1,933 m). Return to the starting point via forest road no. 15/6.
The “Latschenweg” leads to the Marzuner Schupfe hut, home to a mountain pine distillery open to visitors. Here you can learn about the processing of mountain pine and the distillation of its essential oil.
