A spectacular route that combines the climb to the high plateaus of Seceda with a long, panoramic descent into Vallunga, one of the most iconic valleys of the Puez‑Odle Nature Park. It’s an ideal tour for well‑trained riders seeking high‑altitude scenery, rewarding descents and a direct encounter with the most authentic Dolomites.
From Ortisei to the Alpe Seceda
The route starts in Ortisei, the heart of Val Gardena. The first ramps lead toward the hamlet of San Giacomo, a steady section that helps find the right rhythm as the view gradually opens toward the Odle peaks. The climb continues up to Alpe Seceda, reachable via forest roads or, for those who prefer to save energy, by cable car. Once at altitude, the landscape changes completely: wide grassy plateaus, views stretching from the Ortles to the Tofana, and a true high‑mountain atmosphere that rewards every effort.
Across Alpe Cisles toward the Odle
From Seceda, the trail becomes smoother and more panoramic as it crosses Alpe Cisles, skirting the jagged walls of the Odle. The route alternates fast sections with more technical stretches, always immersed in a breathtaking Dolomite setting. You pass near Rifugio Firenze and Rifugio Juac, perfect spots for a break or to admire the mountains from a privileged viewpoint.
Descent into Vallunga
Beyond the huts, the trail drops into the long descent leading to Vallunga, a narrow and dramatic glacial valley framed by vertical rock faces and larch forests. The descent is smooth and enjoyable, with technical passages that never become extreme, making it one of the most exciting moments of the entire tour. Vallunga eventually leads to Selva di Val Gardena, from where you return comfortably to Ortisei along cycle paths and secondary roads.
