Experiencing Nadel da Mont, the mountain Christmas, is one of the most enchanting moments of winter in Val Gardena. In the heart of the Dolomites, surrounded by renowned ski slopes and charming alpine villages, the Christmas markets transform the entire valley into a magical trail, perfect for families during ski breaks or at the end of the day.
Selva di Val Gardena – Mountain Christmas with lights, mini cable car and nativity scenes
Throughout December, the centre of Selva di Val Gardena turns into a festive wonderland thanks to the Mountain Christmas, a truly unique market. Suspended above the 14 illuminated wooden stalls is a mini cable car, a tribute to the famous Sellaronda ski circuit that gives the village an unmistakably magical atmosphere.
Next to the stalls, visitors can admire a precious exhibition of wooden nativity scenes, a testament to Val Gardena’s centuries‑old carving tradition. These handcrafted artworks silently narrate the history and artistry of the valley.
Adding to the charm, from 1 to 24 December, a window of the Advent Calendar lights up each day, linked to a local shop, restaurant or hotel where guests receive a small gift.
Santa Cristina – Christmas designed for children
In Santa Cristina, the Christmas market is especially dedicated to families. With creative workshops, entertainment and play areas, children are welcomed into a magical world, while parents can enjoy the festive atmosphere in complete peace thanks to the presence of professional entertainers.
A place where the magic of Christmas comes alive through lights, music and smiles.
Ortisei – The Christmas Village of crafts and local flavours
The village of Ortisei hosts its traditional Christmas Village throughout December and into early January, a market filled with scents, colours and authentic local craftsmanship.
In the many wooden stalls you will find:
- typical specialties from Val Gardena and South Tyrol
- Christmas decorations and ornaments
- wooden nativity figures carved by local artisans
- authentic, high‑quality gift ideas
Every morning in Stetteneck Square, a new window of the Advent Calendar opens, adding an extra touch of magic to the village atmosphere.
