The Casteldarne Castle (Schloss Ehrenburg in German) is located in the village of the same name, near Chienes, in the Puster Valley.
The magnificent manor, overlooking the Rienza River from above, presumably originated around the 12th century. However, what we see today is the result of two different architectural sections: to the south lies the oldest part, while to the east is the Baroque-style wing renovated in the 16th century. This gives the entire building a truly unique appearance.
Casteldarne Castle is one of the few fortresses that is fully furnished. Surrounded by a beautiful courtyard, it is an excellent starting point for excursions.
In the past, Casteldarne Castle was open to visitors.
Today it is privately owned and closed to the public.
