The Christmas Market in the old mining city of Vipiteno is really something else. The streets of the old town - one of the most beautiful in Italy, with many artistic and cultural treasures from the Middle Ages - are filled with lights and colors, creating a fairy-tale Christmas atmosphere. The imposing tower Torre delle Dodici, overlooking the main square, is the stunning background to this unique market and to the Nativity scene, whose figures are entirely handmade.

Carillon Concert at the Twelve Tower
In the heart of the city, the enchanting Twelve Tower comes alive each day with the sound of a carillon of 25 bells, crafted by the historic Grassmayr foundry. At 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., its melodies fill the air, creating a magical and timeless atmosphere.
On weekends, the experience becomes even more special: on Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m., Town Square turns into an open-air stage as local bands and musicians accompany the carillon’s music. A moment not to be missed for anyone wishing to experience the true spirit of Christmas in the heart of Vipiteno.
The Bell Street: a journey through art, sound, and tradition
During Advent, the Old Town of Vipiteno transforms into the Bell Street, a thematic route winding through the most charming alleys of the historic center. Along the way, visitors can discover a small museum dedicated to farm bells and their traditional uses, craft workshops where artisans create unique handmade pieces, and a Christmas workshop where guests can relax, create, and enjoy the peaceful spirit of the season.
Guided tours reveal the hidden stories of the city and its parish church, uncovering legends and curiosities linked to the sound and symbolism of bells. For an extra touch of enchantment, torchlight walks illuminate Vipiteno’s streets with a warm glow, turning the city into a romantic and magical setting that captures the true charm of the holidays.
