Soundscapes - Faraualla

Event date 07-03-2026

Sixth and final event of the second edition of the music festival ‘Paesaggi sonori - musiche dal mondo in Valle dei Laghi’ (Soundscapes - music from around the world in the Valle dei Laghi).

The sound alchemy that emerges from the polyphony of Faraualla represents a luminous vocal synthesis free from labels.

From Renaissance to avant-garde repertoires, from Ars nova to pop, from folk to jazz. The all-female quartet was formed about thirty years ago in the Murgia area of Bari (Faraualla are the mysterious karst caves in this area), and has come a long way, experimenting with the vocal expressions of different ethnic groups, researching the origins of the voice as a primal instrument, as a means of play and communication, as a creative opportunity to tell stories on various themes, from feelings to current affairs. Puglia, for centuries a land of encounter and passage, is present in their repertoire as well as in their compositions, and with their latest album, their gaze turns to the sea in “Culla e tempesta” (Cradle and Storm), dedicated to Nature and Children, the true victims of these dark times. The album was released in April 2025 and consists of fourteen tracks that speak of poetry and violence, fun and sacrifice, war and resistance, fairy tales and harsh reality. A highly prestigious and renowned group, as well as an absolute reference point in the varied world of vocal music.
