Trekking to the Velo della Madonna Hut

Designed for hikers with solid physical preparation and experience on exposed terrain, this route leads to one of the most spectacular places on the Pale di San Martino Plateau: the Velo della Madonna Hut, nestled at the foot of the peak of the same name.

Start: Malga Civertaghe

From the parking area at Malga Civertaghe, follow trail no. 713, which immediately enters the forest with a steep incline. The path crosses mid-altitude clearings and runs beneath the impressive dolomite walls of Cima Val di Roda, Sass Maor and Cima della Madonna, offering scenic views right from the start.

Ascent to the saddle

After crossing a small stream (usually dry), the trail continues uphill towards a long scree slope leading to the Cadinot Sora Ronz Saddle at 2,050 m. The terrain becomes increasingly rocky, with stones and boulders requiring sure footing and attention.

Equipped sections and Lasta Moia

The central part of the route includes several equipped passages with fixed cables and metal steps, useful for overcoming steep and exposed sections on dolomite rock. The most distinctive point is the Lasta Moia, an oblique ledge protected by fixed ropes: a short but delicate passage that must be approached with care.

Final ascent and arrival at the hut

After a final ramp, which involves a short stretch of easy scrambling, you reach the Velo della Madonna Hut (2,358 m), perched on a natural terrace with a spectacular view of the Pale. The return follows the same route as the ascent.
