Snowshoe Tour along the Odle Trail

Ascent

  • Start: from the Ranui parking lot (Val di Funes).
  • Take trail no. 28, initially without snowshoes, on a flat stretch through the forest.
  • After about 30 minutes of walking, when the snow becomes deeper, put on the snowshoes. Continue towards Brogles, gradually ascending through woods and clearings.
  • The climb leads to the Adolf Munkel Trail, which runs at the foot of the Odle peaks: here the view opens onto the Dolomitic spires and the ascent becomes more demanding, with steep sections and significant elevation gain.
  • Following the Munkel Trail, you reach the Geisler Alm at about 2000 m, the highest point of the excursion.

Descent

  • From Geisler Alm, retrace the Adolf Munkel Trail in the opposite direction, descending through woods and clearings.
  • The descent is faster but requires caution: the terrain may be icy and snowshoes help maintain stability. Return towards the Brogles area, following trail no. 28.
  • The final stretch, gentler and flatter, leads back to the Ranui parking lot, completing the loop.
