Rasciesa Snowshoe Hike

The Rasciesa snowshoe hike is a demanding and spectacular winter tour that combines the experience of snowshoeing with a thrilling sled descent, offering unique views of the Odle and Val di Funes.

Route Description

Ascent

• Start from the valley station of the Resciesa funicular in Ortisei and ascend to the Alpe Resciesa.
• From here, follow the snowshoe trail along the ridge of the Rasciesa, crossing snowy woods and clearings.
• Continue towards Brogles Hut (Malga Brogles), located in a beautiful alpine meadow with views of the northern side of the Odle.
• Proceed to Geisler Alm / Odle Hut (Malga Geisler / Rifugio Odle) at about 2000 m, a rest stop and sled rental point.

Descent

• From the Odle Hut, a natural sled run descends to Ranui / St. Maddalena, offering a fun and fast return.
• Alternatively, you can hike down the trail, which adds about 1.5 hours to the tour.

Practical Tip

• It is recommended to use the hiking shuttle bus from St. Maddalena (09:00), St. Pietro (09:10), and Tiso (09:20) to reach Ortisei.
• Alternatively, use public transport, since the starting point (Ortisei) and the destination (Ranui) are different.
