A short snowshoe hike rich in spectacular views, set in the heart of the Cinque Torri, one of the most iconic landmarks of Cortina d’Ampezzo. Starting from Rifugio Scoiattoli, a natural balcony overlooking the famous Dolomite towers, the route crosses landscapes shaped by nature and history, moving between spires, quiet forests and open views of the Croda da Lago.
From Rifugio Scoiattoli to the heart of the Cinque Torri
From the terrace of Rifugio Scoiattoli, follow the trail to the left towards the Torre Inglese. You pass through the evocative natural “corridor” formed by Torre Quarta Alta and Torre Quarta Bassa, emerging into the centre of a labyrinth of pinnacles and broken rock blocks at the foot of Monte Averau. It is one of the most scenic stretches of the entire itinerary.
Descent to Rifugio Cinque Torri and trail 439
From Rifugio Cinque Torri, descend along the small road for about 300 metres until the junction with trail 439, signposted for Cian Zopè. The path winds through clearings and woodland, offering continuous glimpses of the towers and surrounding rock faces.
Cason de Claudio and the spires of Croda da Lago
Along the trail you reach the Cason de Claudio, a traditional alpine hut ideal for a short break. From here, a beautiful view opens onto the spires of the Croda da Lago, rising sharply above the forest.
Return towards Cian Zopè and Passo Falzarego
Back on trail 439, the route skirts the distinctive Boa delle Cinque Torri and enters the forest, eventually reaching a well‑marked forest road. This descends gently towards Cian Zopè (1,732 m), where the path meets the road to Passo Falzarego, closing the loop near Baita Bai de Dones.
