The ascent to Punta Forcellaetta (2660 m) is one of the most classic ski mountaineering tours in Val Sarentino, South Tyrol. Loved by local ski mountaineers and visitors alike, this excursion offers breathtaking views over Lake Valdurna, the Forcella Vallaga and the surrounding peaks. It is a medium-difficulty itinerary, ideal for those with experience on steep slopes who want to enjoy an authentic alpine adventure.
Starting point
Location: Valdurna (1520 m), accessible from Bolzano via the SS508.
Parking: large area available at the entrance of the village.
Detailed itinerary
- From Lake Valdurna to Hotel Fischerwirt: start from the parking area and follow the right shore of the lake, framed by snowy forests, until reaching Hotel Fischerwirt.
- Entrance into the Seebachtal Valley: the snow-covered road leads into the valley, through silent and enchanting landscapes.
- Seebalm Hut (1802 m): first panoramic stop, perfect for a short break.
- Northern slope and rocky ramp: continue towards the head of the valley, facing a steep ascent below the Forcella Vallaga (warning: avalanche risk).
- Final deviation:
- Left towards Punta Forcellaetta (2660 m), along the western slope.
- Or towards the Forcella Vallaga, with the Vallaga Hut offering a winter room and beds.
- Summit cross: passing Lake Vallaga, you reach the peak, with stunning views of the Dolomites and the Villandro Alps.
- Descent: along the ascent route, paying attention to rocky outcrops and flat sections.
