Viel del Pan trail

The Viel del Pan trail connects the Fedaia and Pordoi Passes. It was once used by traders from the Belluno area to transport and sell flour in the Ladin valleys (hence the name, meaning Bread Trail). It is an excursion suitable for everyone and one of the most beautiful in the Dolomites with a panoramic view of the Marmolada, the Sella Group, Piz Boè and Sassolungo.

There are several starting points: either you start from Col dei Rossi by taking the cable car from Canazei-Pecol or the Col dei Rossi cable car from Alba di Canazei or you start from the Pordoi Pass. If you decide to start from the Pordoi Pass, you have to add about 35 minutes more walking time to reach Fedarola mountain hut.

From Col dei Rossi you walk downhill to the Belvedere mountain hut and then to the Fedarola mountain hut (20 minutes), from where you can admire the Sella Group with Piz Boè. From the Fredarola mountain hut, the Viel del Pan trail continues substantially flat to the Viel dal Pan mountain hut (2432 m; 1 hour from Col dei Rossi). From the Viel dal Pan hut there is a splendid panorama of Lake Fedaia and the Marmolada. From here you can continue towards Lake Fedaia or reach Porta Vescovo and the Luigi Gorza mountain hut.
