Regnana – Malga Stramaiolo – Rifugio Tonini – Monte Croce

This circular route connects some of the most evocative places on the Piné Plateau: the quiet forests above Regnana, the wild Val dell’Inferno, the welcoming Malga Stramaiolo, and the wide-open views from Passo Campivel. The variant leading to Monte Croce, passing by Rifugio Tonini, adds a highly panoramic and rewarding section, turning the hike into a complete and varied experience.

It is an ideal trekking route from May to September, when the trails are snow-free and nature is at its most vibrant.

1. Regnana (1215 m) → Provincial Road to Passo Redebus → Forest road (approx. 1410 m)

From the centre of Regnana, follow the road climbing towards Passo Redebus. Shortly above the village, the route enters the forest along a comfortable forest road with a steady gradient.

2. Forest road → Val dell’Inferno (1620 m)

The trail continues into the atmospheric Val dell’Inferno, a cool and shaded valley with ancient fir trees and bright clearings. The ascent is steady but never demanding.

3. Val dell’Inferno → Malga Stramaiolo (1678 m)

Upon reaching Malga Stramaiolo, the view opens onto the Lagorai peaks. It’s an excellent place for a break before continuing towards Passo Campivel.

4. Malga Stramaiolo → Passo Campivel (1831 m) – SAT Trail 443

Behind the malga, follow SAT Trail 443, which climbs through pastures and larch woods to Passo Campivel. The panorama widens towards the Lagorai Range and the Brenta Dolomites.

5. Passo Campivel → Rifugio Tonini (1902 m)

From the pass, continue towards Rifugio Tonini, reachable in about 20–30 minutes. This is one of the most beloved mountain huts in the area.

6. Rifugio Tonini → Monte Croce (1542 m) – SAT Trail 404

From the hut, take SAT Trail 404, descending towards Monte Croce through sparse woodland and viewpoints overlooking Lake delle Piazze and the Piné Plateau. The summit offers a wide and surprising panorama.

Return

7. Monte Croce → Regnana – connection via Trails 404 + 443

From Monte Croce, descend along Trail 404 until it meets Trail 443, which leads comfortably back to Regnana, completing the loop.
