The Alta Badia Skitour is a panoramic route that blends skiing, nature and Ladin traditions. It’s the ideal experience for those who want to explore the landscapes bordering the Puez‑Odle and Fanes‑Sennes‑Braies Nature Parks, alternating exciting descents with cultural and culinary stops in the symbolic places of the valley.
From Colfosco to the Puez Plateau
The day begins in Colfosco, where the gondola quickly takes you to the enchanting Val Stella Alpina. From here, you reach the Col Pradat and Forcelles areas, overlooking the Puez plateau—an impressive high‑altitude environment offering spectacular views of the Dolomites and the surrounding peaks of Alta Badia.
Corvara, Col Alto and the views from Piz Sorega and Piz La Villa
You then move on to Corvara, the heart of the ski area. A chairlift leads to Col Alto, and from there you continue towards Piz Sorega and Piz La Villa, a sunny plateau with wide slopes perfect for relaxed, enjoyable skiing.
The descent to La Villa brings you to the foot of the majestic Sassongher, passing through the traditional viles, the ancient Ladin rural settlements built in wood and stone.
Towards Pedraces, through forests and views of Santa Croce
From the village, the route continues on skis through the woods towards Pedraces, with privileged views of the Santa Croce massif and the peaks of Lavarella. This is one of the most evocative stretches of the entire skitour, thanks to the contrast between forests, clearings and dramatic Dolomite walls.
Santa Croce: spirituality, tradition and Ladin flavours
In San Leonardo, a hamlet of Pedraces, a chairlift takes you up to the Santa Croce Sanctuary, a small church consecrated in 1484 and still today a pilgrimage destination and a symbol of Ladin culture.
Next to the church stands the Santa Croce Mountain Hut, where you can enjoy traditional dishes such as:
- polenta with local cheeses
- South Tyrolean speck
- a selection of Ladin cheeses
- the traditional panicia, a hearty barley soup
A perfect ending to a day that blends sport, nature and tradition.
