Falcade is set to become the heart of Italian cross-country skiing: on January 17 and 18, the resort in the Valle del Biois, at the foot of Monte Focobon and the Cime d’Auta, will host the Coppa Italia Senior and the Italian Youth Cross-Country Ski Championships. A major national event that will bring the best Italian cross-country skiers and numerous international athletes to the snow of the Belluno Dolomites.
A major event organized by Sci Club Val Biois
The two-day competition is organized by Sci Club Val Biois, a historic sports club with over 70 years of experience, led by Matteo Cagnati. For decades, the club has been a key reference point for winter sports in Falcade and throughout the Valle del Biois.
Cross-country skiing race program in Falcade
The sporting weekend will begin on Saturday, January 17, with a classic technique sprint, valid for:
- Coppa Italia Senior
- Aspiranti and Juniores categories
On Sunday, January 18, the focus will shift to distance races:
- 10 km classic technique for all categories
- 7.5 km for the Youth women’s category
For Under 18 and Under 20 athletes, the Italian Champion titles will be awarded, making the event especially important for athletes, coaches and professionals.
A key event on the road to World Championships and Olympics
The races in Falcade will also play a strategic role at international level. The results will be decisive for:
- the selection of the Italian National Team for the Junior World Championships in Trondheim (Norway), scheduled for March
- the assignment of the final spots for the Italian team competing in the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, where the Val di Fiemme will play a leading role
Pietro Scola Cross-Country Track ready for national and international athletes
The Pietro Scola cross-country track in Falcade is already perfectly prepared to host high-level competitions. The loop, almost 5 kilometres long, will be further extended thanks to low temperatures and artificial snowmaking.
In recent days, numerous national and international athletes have been training in Falcade. The track also offers evening training sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 pm to 9 pm, confirming its status as one of the most appreciated cross-country skiing venues in the Dolomites.
