The Auronzo di Cadore valley, which opens above the course of the Piave, is defined by the lakes of Auronzo and Misurina, two bodies of water set among forests and Dolomite peaks. In winter, the area becomes a paradise for snow sports, especially cross‑country skiing, which can be enjoyed on peaceful trails immersed in the silence of the woods. The cross‑country loops are located both in Auronzo and Misurina, offering routes for all levels.
In Auronzo di Cadore, Nordic skiing is practiced in the area of Palus San Marco, within the Somadida Forest, the largest woodland in Cadore and a Nature Reserve since 1972. In winter, the forest transforms into a cross‑country skiing center with 9 loops for a total of about 50–52 km, suitable for both beginners and more experienced skiers. The trails wind through centuries‑old fir trees and wide snowy clearings, creating an ideal environment for those seeking peace and authentic nature.
Misurina, at 1,756 meters of altitude, also offers beautiful panoramic routes with loops of 2, 5 and 7 km, for a total of about 14–17 km depending on the variants. The itineraries develop around the Lake Misurina and at the foot of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, offering unique views of the Dolomites. The local ski school is available for courses and private lessons.
