The Barbian Plum is a true symbol of the local culinary tradition, used in cooking, pastry making, and even in the production of regional spirits. In the charming village known for its “leaning tower,” this autumn fruit is celebrated every year with two weeks entirely dedicated to it.
CULINARY WEEKS
From 29 August to 13 September 2026, restaurants in Barbian offer creative dishes featuring local plums, while shops and local stores sell artisanal products such as plum bread, jams, and dried plums.
PLUM FESTIVAL
On Sunday 13 September, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the traditional Plum Festival takes place in Barbian. The event celebrates this fruit with tastings and local specialties, accompanied by live music from the Lengsteiner Böhmische band and the Duo Flexibel group.
GUIDED HIKES
During the plum weeks, themed guided hikes are also organized: on 1 and 8 September, along the “Plum Trail,” visitors can discover interesting facts and stories about this local delicacy, with stops for tastings of plum-based dishes.
