Cross-country skiing in Vipiteno

For those who love slower-paced winter sports, the surroundings of Vipiteno offer wonderful opportunities for cross-country skiing, immersed in the silence of the woods and surrounded by striking Alpine views. In particular, the Val di Vizze offers scenic, sunny routes, ideal for discovering the beauty of the snowy mountains away from the downhill slopes.

A loop trail of easy or moderate difficulty starts from the Fosse sports area, at about 1,500 metres above sea level, and winds through the upper Val di Vizze, at the foot of the Zillertal Alps. Thanks to its picturesque location and favourable snow conditions, this trail is a popular destination for cross-country enthusiasts. The tracks, prepared daily, are suitable for both classic and skating techniques.

What to do in Vipiteno if you don't ski

Monte Cavallo and the valleys surrounding Vipiteno are also an ideal destination for those who prefer to explore the mountains away from the ski slopes. The area offers numerous opportunities for winter hikes, among open views, snowy woods and mountain huts where you can take a break and enjoy typical South Tyrolean flavours.

A network of about 150 km of winter trails invites you to explore the area on foot, with routes suited to different levels and opportunities to spend an outdoor day together with the whole family. Along the way, a stop at a mountain hut lets you savour local specialities, such as traditional apple strudel.

To complete a day on the snow, Vipiteno has plenty of fun and relaxation: the ice rink invites young and old to try their hand at skating, while the Balneum aquatic and wellness centre is the ideal place to relax and warm up after a day spent in the cold.

With ski slopes, tobogganing, hikes, events and moments of relaxation, Monte Cavallo and Vipiteno are getting ready to offer a winter rich in experiences, ideal for a snow holiday in South Tyrol.
