Mea Via – Embracing mountain life at a gentle pace in Val Gardena

15 July 2025

In a world racing forward, there’s a place in Val Gardena where time slows to rediscover what truly matters: Mea Via – The Slow Farm Hotel. Nestled among the breathtaking Dolomite peaks, this alpine retreat invites guests to embrace slow travel—a mindful journey guided by nature, sustainability, and deep-rooted authenticity.

Mea Via, literally “my way”, reflects a philosophy of mindful living: harmoniously blending alpine traditions and modern design, Ladin heritage and Mediterranean joy of life, and heartfelt hospitality with eco-conscious practices. More than just a holiday residence, Mea Via is a real alpine farm — a design hotel, a paradise, a window to freedom, a haven of energetic vitality, and above all, a place where guests are pampered with genuine warmth.

From barn to breakfast table at dawn

Long before the sun peaks over the Seceda or Culaces mountains, director Richard is already in the barn, milking cows. As they munch fresh hay, other animals awake. Hardy South Tyrolean hens provide the daily fresh eggs, and Uncle Klemens, busy since morning in Castelrotto, brings artisanal breads and pastries from his oven.

What completes this authentic alpine morning? Crunchy muesli from the Mea Via farm, creamy yogurt from the Vipiteno dairy, homemade organic juices, house-smoked speck, Kaminwurzen sausages, rich cheeses—and excellent Italian coffee. Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 10:30, and for those who love to sleep in, room service is available for a small extra fee.

Slow Food dinners: Alpine and Mediterranean flavours

At Mea Via, dinner is a four-course sensory journey available nightly from 19:00 to 20:30. The Slow Food menu offers garden-fresh veggie buffet, appetizer, main course, and dessert, with vegetarian and vegan options available.

Three special themed evenings per week add extra charm:

  • Wednesdays: Coastal Italian cuisine with sustainably farmed fish.
  • Fridays: Alpine Slow Food night, featuring delicacies from Italy’s high valleys between Trieste and Bulla.
  • Sundays: “Tischlein Deck Dich” — Ladin culinary heritage from Val Gardena, celebrating regional classics.

Slow Wine selection

Mea Via supports Slow Wine movement, offering natural wines from small artisanal estates in Italy and France. Featuring names like Valentini, Cappellano, Miani, Giacomo Conterno, Jacques Selosse, Didier Dagueneau, and Jacques Carillon—each wine is chosen for its organic, authentic quality and environmental stewardship.

A soul‑stirring destination

Mea Via isn’t just a place to sleep and eat; it’s a window to freedom, an energetic sanctuary, a hidden paradise. Here you’ll discover simple daily joys, nurtured by time, care, and beauty. And yes: “Nëus rujnon Gherdëina” – we speak Ladin and welcome you wholeheartedly. Welcome to our home, welcome to Mea Via.
