The Marcialonga Cycling Craft returns on 31 May 2026 to Predazzo, in the heart of Val di Fiemme, once again welcoming hundreds of cycling enthusiasts. This iconic road granfondo brings back the routes of its early editions, featuring the much-anticipated return of the legendary Lavazè, San Pellegrino and Valles passes – true icons of Dolomite cycling.
Participants can choose between two challenging and spectacular routes:
- the Mediofondo, covering 80 km with 2,488 metres of elevation gain,
- the Granfondo, stretching over 135 km with 3,900 metres of elevation gain, designed for well-trained riders.
The race starts in Predazzo and heads towards Moena, the “Fairy of the Dolomites”, before continuing to San Giovanni di Fassa (Sen Jan), where the first climb towards Passo Costalunga begins. The opening 16 kilometres feature a gentle, steady ascent that is highly rideable. The climb to Costalunga is regular and never excessively steep; in the final two kilometres, the road levels out, offering beautiful panoramic views.
From the pass, riders tackle a long descent of around 10 km, skirting the enchanting Lake Carezza and passing through Nova Levante. A short climb leads to the hamlet of San Valentino, followed by another descent down to Ponte Nova, the lowest point of the route.
From here, the climb to Passo Pampeago begins: almost 14 km alternating between steady sections and demanding gradients. The road from Obereggen to the pass, and then down to Alpe Pampeago, is closed to traffic, allowing cyclists to ride in complete safety. The descent from Pampeago is highly technical and fast, requiring great concentration.
Just before returning to Predazzo, mediofondo riders finish their race, while granfondo participants continue towards Passo San Pellegrino and Passo Valles, completing the longer loop. The San Pellegrino Pass, famous for its role in the Giro d’Italia, is tackled downhill towards Falcade, along spectacular switchbacks. This is followed by the demanding climb of Passo Valles, the shortest but steepest ascent, offering breathtaking views of the Pale di San Martino.
The final descent, technical especially in its first section, winds through the ancient forests of the Paneveggio Natural Park, leading back to the finish line in Predazzo.
