South Tyrolean Folklore Museum in Brunico

The South Tyrolean Museum of Folklore in Teodone, near Brunico, is the oldest of South Tyrol’s provincial museums and offers a vivid insight into the rural culture of past centuries. At the heart of the museum complex stands the impressive baroque residence “Mair am Hof”, built at the end of the 17th century. It preserves the elegant state rooms of the rural nobility and houses an extensive ethnographic collection dedicated to everyday life, customs, and traditions of bygone times.

The open-air museum, covering an area of about three hectares, features authentic farmsteads, craft workshops, cultivated fields, and gardens — a fascinating journey through the main stages of rural life in former times. Strolling among old wooden buildings, domestic animals, and historical tools, visitors can fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a world long gone.

Through educational workshops, themed events, and demonstrations of traditional crafts, the museum offers an engaging and interactive experience, perfect for families, history enthusiasts, and curious visitors of all ages. The museum is open from 15 April to 9 November.
Tuesday to Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Sundays and public holidays: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Last admission: 1 hour before closing
