A simple and accessible route, ideal from May to October, combining botany, geology, history and spectacular mountain views. From the parking area at Passo Brocon, easily reached from the SS47 Valsugana road (Tesino Plateau exit) or from Primiero via the Vanoi Valley, the trail sets off through nature and traces of the First World War.
Thanks to its privileged position, the itinerary offers 360-degree views of the Pale di San Martino, the Lagorai range, the Marmolada, Monte Coppolo, nearby Monte Agaro and the Vette Feltrine. Along the way, numerous themed panels describe the area’s history, the geological features and the main alpine flowers that make this environment so unique.
The walk begins along an old First World War mule track, then climbs gently with wide switchbacks through flowering meadows and rocky outcrops. The first section is dominated by Jurassic and Cretaceous limestone, while beyond Col del Boia the soil becomes more acidic and gives way to the crystalline rocks of the Cima d’Asta massif, such as granite and quartz phyllites. This dual geological nature is the reason behind the extraordinary botanical diversity that characterises the route.
A perfect itinerary also for those travelling with their dog: the trail is wide, safe and dotted with panoramic spots ideal for a relaxing break.
