The hike to the Rifugio Gallina (1,868 m) is a panoramic route that starts from the heart of Colle Isarco, in Piazza Ibsen (1,098 m). It is a charming walk that leads through forests and alpine meadows to one of the most characteristic huts in South Tyrol, ideal for hikers and families seeking an authentic nature experience.
From the village center, the trail heads north towards the Raiffeisen Bank and, crossing the pedestrian passage, continues into the Vicolo Postale. The ascent proceeds eastwards, passing by the Aparthotel Pichler, until reaching a well-marked junction. From here, trail no. 22 climbs through woods and clearings up to the Rifugio Gallina, where the view of the surrounding mountains rewards every step.
Variant from the DAX parking area
Those who prefer a more direct access can start from Vipiteno along the state road towards the Brenner Pass. After about 4 km you reach Colle Isarco, and continuing for another 3 km you come to an S-shaped curve. On the right, there is a narrow paved road leading to the DAX parking area after about 800 meters. From there, the route continues on foot along a forest road that leads directly to the Rifugio Gallina.
