Slow Food Travel – Guided Hike with a Local Farmer

Event date 13-03-2026

Discover the unique cultural landscape of Val di Funes, shaped over centuries by humans and nature, with traditional farmhouses, ancient rural customs, and native breeds such as the famous “Villnösser Brillenschaf” sheep and the Grigio Alpino cattle.

Join shepherd Günther Pernthaler on a guided circular hike starting from San Pietro, passing through San Giacomo, the Moarhof, and the Paradiso di Maier, before returning to San Pietro. Along the way, visit a farm with Villnösser Brillenschaf sheep, an ancient grain mill, and a traditional smokehouse.

During the hike, you will learn fascinating facts about the Grigio Alpino cattle and the principles of sustainable agriculture, deeply rooted in this valley. The experience concludes with a tasting of local products directly from the farm – a true delight for lovers of nature, Alpine culture, and authentic flavors.
