The artificial lake, also called Cadore lake, took shape from the construction of the dam on the river Piave in Sottocastello (Pieve di Cadore) in the mid-century.
The lake lengthens in the valley of the Centre Cadore.
It belongs to six town councils: Pieve, Calalzo, Domegge, Lozzo, Vigo and Lorenzago.
On its banks, sometimes steep and stony, sometimes more accessibile and gradual, interesting excursions have been created between beautiful woods and fields.
