November and December at DAS GERSTL Family Retreat

01 October 2026

November and December are ideal months for a family getaway at DAS GERSTL Family Retreat. As the days grow shorter and the atmosphere becomes increasingly wintry, the hotel offers families a stay filled with relaxation, shared activities and plenty of experiences to enjoy together.

And for those already looking forward to getting back on the slopes, there is a date to mark in the calendar: the ski season at the Schöneben-Haideralm family ski resort starts on 5 December 2026. The slopes are just 600 metres from DAS GERSTL and can be easily reached by public ski bus, with a stop directly in front of the hotel, or by the DAS GERSTL ski shuttle.

What makes November and December at DAS GERSTL so special?

The charm of autumn and Törggelen
In November, the Val Venosta invites visitors to discover the flavours and traditions of South Tyrolean autumn. The aroma of roasted chestnuts, local specialities and convivial moments make this time of year particularly enjoyable for a family holiday.

Creative activities for little ones
Colourful autumn leaves, chestnuts and little treasures from the forest become the perfect materials for creative crafts and activities to enjoy together.

The magic of Christmas markets
The Christmas markets in Glurns and Schlanders add a touch of magic to a holiday in the Val Venosta. With twinkling lights, local crafts, festive aromas and regional specialities, they are a wonderful opportunity for families to stroll around and soak up the Christmas atmosphere.

Ice skating right in front of the hotel
For a fun afternoon with a difference, the ice rink in front of DAS SCHLÖSSL welcomes both children and adults. And there is an added bonus: skates can be rented free of charge at the hotel.

From 5 December: time to hit the slopes
With the start of the ski season on 5 December 2026, the Belpiano/Malga San Valentino (Schöneben-Haideralm) family ski resort takes centre stage once again. One of the highlights of the new season is the new 10-seater cable car to Piz Schöneben. The resort’s proximity to the hotel makes it especially easy to plan days in the snow, even for families with children taking their first turns on skis.

A holiday to enjoy at your own pace

From a day on the slopes to an afternoon on the ice, a visit to the Christmas markets and relaxing moments at the hotel, November and December at DAS GERSTL Family Retreat offer families the chance to spend precious time together and experience the transition from autumn to winter in South Tyrol.
