Gianni Caproni Aeronautics Museum

The Gianni Caproni Aeronautics Museum is located in Trento and displays a world-renowned collection of original historic aircraft. Founded in 1927 by Gianni Caproni, a pioneer of Trentino aviation, the museum promotes the dissemination of historical and aeronautical culture through temporary exhibitions, events and educational activities for schools.

The collection of aircraft housed at the Gianni Caproni Aeronautics Museum includes models built in the 1910s-1920s by the engineer, including the Ca.6 from 1911, the oldest original aircraft on display, and the Ansaldo SVA 5 from the "Flight over Vienna" of 1918.

The museum also displays historical artifacts, documents, personal objects, important engine collections, on-board instruments and much other material produced by the Caproni workshop.

Inside Trento's aeronautics museum you can also admire a collection of artworks on the theme of flight created by artists such as Fortunato Depero, Giacomo Balla, Mario Sironi, Tato, Alfredo Ambrosi.

The first headquarters of the Gianni Caproni Aeronautics Museum was Taliedo, in the province of Milan. At the end of the Second World War the museum was reopened in Vizzola Ticino and in 1988 donated to the Autonomous Province of Trento. The current Trento location was inaugurated in October 1992 and is part of the network of scientific museums under MUSE.

How to reach the Gianni Caproni Aeronautics Museum

By car: A22, exit at Trento South tollbooth, at the first roundabout turn right onto the bridge towards Trento South. At the second roundabout continue until you see the "Gianni Caproni Aeronautics Museum" signs.

To date, the museum is not served by any urban bus line.
