Skiing in Val Gardena in the Dolomiti Superski

Val Gardena is one of the most renowned ski destinations in the Dolomites. Its three main villages, Ortisei, Santa Cristina and Selva Val Gardena, provide access to an extensive ski area with slopes for all skill levels. Visitors can also enjoy modern snowparks, ski touring routes, traditional mountain huts, après-ski venues, ski schools and mountain guides.

Together with the nearby Alpe di Siusi (Seiser Alm), Val Gardena is part of the Dolomiti Superski area, which offers 1,200 km of slopes, 12 ski areas and a single ski pass. Both destinations are also connected to the famous Sellaronda, the ski circuit around the Sella massif.

Val Gardena is also renowned for the major winter sports events held each season. Highlights include the men’s speed events of the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, held on the legendary Saslong slope. Throughout the winter, visitors can also enjoy food and wine events, snowshoe hikes, ski mountaineering races, torchlight walks and many other activities.

Val Gardena wins over ski enthusiasts with the extraordinary variety of its slopes, capable of satisfying every skill level, and with breathtaking views of the Dolomites.

Among its most iconic routes stand out the Legendary 8, eight slopes that represent the excellence of skiing in this valley and tell over a century of skiing tradition in the heart of the Ladin Dolomites. The Legendary 8 include the Saslong, the Cir, the Ciampinoi No. 3, the Bravo, the Falk, the Gardenissima and the Pilat.

How to get to Val Gardena

Val Gardena is easily reachable by car, train, bus and plane. By car, take the A22 Brenner motorway to the Chiusa-Val Gardena exit, about 15 km from the valley.

Those travelling by train can arrive at the stations of Bolzano or Bressanone and continue by bus. During the winter season, combined train and bus connections are also available.

For those arriving by plane, the reference airports are Bolzano, Verona, Bergamo and Milan, with transfer options to the valley.
