Skiing in Alta Badia in the Dolomiti Superski

More than 54 lifts and 130 km of slopes: the Alta Badia Ski Area is one of the most complete destinations for skiing in the Dolomites. From 4 December 2026 to 4 April 2027, the ski area offers perfectly groomed slopes, modern lifts and convenient connections, combining winter sports with spectacular scenery, gastronomy and Ladin traditions.

Located in the heart of Dolomiti Superski, Alta Badia includes the villages of Corvara, Colfosco, La Villa, San Cassiano, Badia and La Val, and stretches beneath some of the most iconic mountains of the Dolomites. The slopes range from wide, easy runs for families and skiers of all levels to more challenging pistes, including the famous Gran Risa in La Villa, venue of the Alpine Ski World Cup.

Skiing in Alta Badia among panoramic slopes and great ski tours

One of the main strengths of the Alta Badia Ski Area is its variety. Val Stella Alpina, accessible from Colfosco, offers wide, sunny slopes that are ideal for families, children and skiers who prefer more relaxed descents. The Gardenaccia area, meanwhile, provides spectacular views of Sas dla Crusc, Lavarella and Conturines.

In Badia, the La Crusc – Santa Croce area is one of the most panoramic parts of Alta Badia, dominated by the imposing Sas dla Crusc. Here, skiing can be combined with a taste of Ladin culinary traditions in the mountain huts and restaurants along the slopes.

For an alternative to alpine skiing, Piz Sorega, above San Cassiano, features the Tru Liösa Foram toboggan run, while the cross-country skiing centre in San Cassiano offers the opportunity to enjoy Nordic skiing surrounded by the Dolomite landscape.

Sellaronda: Alta Badia as a starting point

Alta Badia is also one of the main gateways to the Sellaronda, the famous ski circuit around the Sella massif, crossing the four Dolomite passes – Campolongo, Gardena, Sella and Pordoi.

The circuit can be completed in both directions and takes you through four valleys without passing through the same point twice. It is suitable for skiers with good skiing ability and requires careful attention to lift opening and closing times.

From Alta Badia, it is also possible to reach some of the major ski tours in Dolomiti Superski, including the Great War Ski Tour, an approximately 80 km route through places connected with the history of the First World War, at the foot of the Marmolada, Civetta, Lagazuoi and Cinque Torri.

Lagazuoi and Cortina: skiing among nature and history

One of the most spectacular experiences accessible from Alta Badia is the route to Lagazuoi, a panoramic viewpoint offering impressive views across the Dolomites. The itinerary passes through Armentarola and Falzarego Pass, combining skiing, mountain scenery and history in an area that still preserves numerous traces of the First World War.

Continuing towards Cinque Torri and Cortina d’Ampezzo, the scenery changes once again, revealing some of the most famous peaks surrounding the Ampezzo valley. The connection with Cortina allows visitors to explore some of the most iconic landscapes of the Dolomites without using a car.

Gastronomy and Ladin hospitality

Skiing in Alta Badia also means enjoying a break in a mountain hut or alpine restaurant. Food is an essential part of the experience: alongside traditional Ladin and South Tyrolean cuisine, Alta Badia is renowned for its high-quality gastronomic offering, with restaurants, mountain huts and venues that turn a break on the slopes into a memorable experience.

After a day on the skis, the villages of the valley also offer a wide choice of accommodation, restaurants and services to complete your winter holiday.

Alta Badia without a car: ski buses and public transport

Getting around Alta Badia is easy even without a car. Local buses and ski buses connect the main villages with the lift stations, often allowing guests to reach the slopes directly from their accommodation.

With the South Tyrol Guest Pass, visitors can also use the South Tyrol public transport network. Those without a pass can purchase tickets digitally or directly when boarding.

There is also a connection between Alta Badia and Plan de Corones: from the Sompunt valley lift station, a ski bus runs to Piculin, the gateway to the Plan de Corones ski area, with scheduled services.

Skiing in Alta Badia: a holiday between sport and the Dolomites

From the Gran Risa to the panoramic slopes of La Crusc and Gardenaccia, from the Sellaronda to the routes towards Lagazuoi and Cortina, Alta Badia offers countless ways to experience the mountains in winter.

From 4 December 2026 to 4 April 2027, the Alta Badia Ski Area welcomes skiers, families and mountain enthusiasts with more than 54 lifts, 130 km of slopes, spectacular Dolomite scenery, Ladin hospitality and excellent cuisine – all in one of the most fascinating areas of Dolomiti Superski.
