Starting point: Penser Joch (Passo di Pennes, 2211 m), easily accessible by car from the Sarentino Valley or Ridanna Valley.
Trail: Follow trail marker 12A heading west.
First stage: After about 15 minutes, you reach the Penser Joch lake, a small and picturesque body of water.
Continuation: The trail continues with a moderate incline along grassy and rocky slopes exposed to the south, passing near the Steinwand lakes (Steinwandseen), up to the Gröller Joch (approx. 2400 m).
Equipped section: From here, the path becomes steeper and more demanding, still following trail 12A, and includes a short via ferrata well equipped with steel cables. This section is not technically difficult but requires surefootedness and a lack of vertigo. In wet conditions, via ferrata gear is recommended.
Summit: After reaching the ridge, turn right and in a few minutes you’ll reach the summit of the Corno Bianco (2703 m or 2705 m depending on sources), offering a spectacular view of the Sarntal Alps and beyond.
Easy return option: You can detour toward Punta Rossa (Rothenspitze) for an additional scenic viewpoint and a gentler descent.
Recommended season: From late June to early October, avoiding periods of residual snow or bad weather.
Equipment: Hiking boots, trekking poles, helmet, and via ferrata kit recommended for the equipped section.
