A family-friendly itinerary leads to one of the most fascinating natural attractions in the Dolomites: the Earth Pyramids of Plata, spectacular geological formations that look as if they were sculpted by mysterious hands.
The starting point is at parking area P2, between Oberwielenbach (Vila di Sopra) and Plata. Following the signs for the “Pyramidenweg”, the route begins with a short flight of steps, then continues with a gentle ascent along a charming forest path. The trail also crosses the meadows of the picturesque Höllerhof farm, offering authentic glimpses of rural South Tyrol.
From the saddle below the farm, the well-marked path continues and soon reaches the earth pyramids, clay columns topped with boulders that, shaped by millennia of erosion, rise like natural towers in the heart of the valley. A place where geological wonder and scenic beauty meet, perfect for a contemplative pause or a photo stop.
How to get there: Public transport from the Mobility Center in Brunico:
- by Citybus no. 432 to Oberwielenbach (Vila di Sopra), stop Poligono;
- or by Citybus to Perca, then with the “Summerbus” (active from late June to mid-September) to Oberwielenbach (Vila di Sopra), stop P1 – Valle di Vila.
