The Palio di Feltre is one of the most fascinating historical reenactments in Veneto, where the town goes back in time and the four districts — Port’Oria, Duomo, Castello, and Santo Stefano — compete to win the prestigious banner.
The competition is not a single race, but a real points-based championship made up of different events that test skill, strength, precision, and strategy.
It begins with archery, a highly focused challenge in the heart of the city: archers from each district compete in Piazza Maggiore with precision shots that officially open the Palio.
Next comes the relay race, a fast and technical run through the streets of the old town, where smooth handovers and pacing can make the difference.
The third event is tug of war, a pure test of strength and teamwork, where districts face each other in direct duels and coordination is essential.
Finally, the most anticipated race: the horse race in the stunning Prà del Moro arena. Speed and control of the jockeys can completely change the outcome until the very last lap.
At the end of the four events, points are totaled and the winning district is crowned and awarded the banner.
The Palio is not only competition, but also history, tradition, and identity, turning Feltre into a true medieval stage every summer.
