Skiing in Racines-Giovo

The Ratschings-Jaufen Ski Area, in the Ratschings Valley just a few kilometres from Vipiteno (Sterzing), is one of South Tyrol's popular skiing destinations, perfect for spending a day on the snow surrounded by alpine scenery and slopes for all levels. The ski area offers 28 km of slopes, ranging from 1,200 to 2,150 metres above sea level.

Slopes and lifts

Whether you're taking your first turns or are an experienced skier, you'll find slopes to suit your level at Ratschings-Jaufen. The easier runs are ideal for families and beginners, while more experienced skiers can enjoy more challenging descents, including the Rinneralm Profi black run.

The slopes are served by 7 modern lifts, including a panoramic automated 8-seater gondola, which provides comfortable access to the higher parts of the ski area.

2026/2027 winter season

The ski season at Ratschings-Jaufen is scheduled to run from 4 December 2026 to 4 April 2027.

The lifts are open daily from 8:30 am to 4:15 pm, while the gondola operates until 4:30 pm. The ski pass offices are open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Opening hours may vary depending on snow conditions and lift operations.

How to get to Ratschings-Jaufen

Getting to Ratschings-Jaufen is easy. By car, take the A22 Brenner motorway, exit at Vipiteno (Sterzing) and follow the signs for Racines/Ratschings.

If you prefer to travel by train, you can get off at Vipiteno-Val di Vizze (Sterzing-Pfitsch) railway station and continue towards the Ratschings Valley using local public transport.
