Destinations: Monte Avena ski area

Ski area Monte Avena

Monte Avena is a ski area for families, a quiet and pleasant oasis far from the more crowded resorts offering a perfect balance of exciting descents on the skis and peaceful moments spent admiring the wonderful landscape. Rising near Feltre and the Veneto plain, Monte Avena is the right place to practice Alpine skiing, freeride and cross-country skiing, and to enjoy the delicious reception you will receive in the shepherd's huts and in the chalets.

Monte Avena is also called the Observatory of the Dolomites of the Bellunese, since from its round summit you can admire a wonderful view of the valleys of the Bellunese and Feltre. The ski runs are always covered with snow and you can reach them through one chairlift and two ski lifts. They are suitable to both beginners and pro skiers, who can train on FISI certified ski runs often hosting regional competitions.

The wide slopes are suitable also for snowboarders and can be reached from Le Buse, close to Passo Croce D'Aune (well-known because of the rally starting in Pedavena, as well as for some anecdotes in the history of cycling) where you will find a large car park, a chalet offering local products and a ski rental shop. The easiest runs are used for teaching to children: in winter in fact there are a lot of courses designed especially for them, and a free shuttle service take them safely from Feltre or Pedavena to the slopes.

If you love freeride, the forests and clearings of Monte Avena are the right places for some thrilling descents, whereas the summit, called Campon, has wide plains perfectly suitable for cross-country skiing.

More than skiing

Thanks to its sunny position, its mild temperatures and its wide plains, Monte Avena is the perfect destination also for non-skiers. There are many trekking and snowshoeing routes, and children can try their fist descents on a sled (if you don't have your own, you can rent one from the near rental shop). A few kilometers from the ski area, in Feltre, you find a well known ice rink where you can skate and watch hockey matches or figure skating shows. The ski area hosts also a snowshoeing competition: the Ciaspalonga.
