Tesino Arboretum and Garden of Europe

The Tesino Arboretum is located in the municipality of Pieve Tesino, one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, along the road leading to Cinte Tesino. This natural destination is one of the most fascinating walks in the Valsugana, ideal for immersing yourself in nature, discovering local biodiversity, and enjoying unique mountain views.

This open-air botanical museum covers approximately 14 hectares and offers circular trails accessible to everyone, perfect for families, botany enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a relaxing walk in the green.

The Tesino Arboretum is a place where nature, culture, and local history meet: among flowering meadows, mixed forests, ponds, and wetlands, visitors can admire native species, exotic plants from Asia and North America, Japanese maples, and a "lost fruits" orchard dedicated to preserving ancient varieties.

Garden of Europe

At the entrance of the Tesino Arboretum is the Garden of Europe, a true triumph of colors and scents. This symbolic garden is a tribute to the ideals of Alcide De Gasperi and European unity. Its layout recalls an ancient theater and covers about 800 square meters. Inside, 14 raised flowerbeds arranged in semicircles host more than 50 different species: alongside local plants and flowers such as peonies, anemones, bellflowers, asters, roses, and sloes, there are also exotic varieties from around the world.

The flower season begins in spring with tulips, continues with the peony spectacle between May and June, and reaches its peak between July and September with a vibrant explosion of colors, offering a special charm even in autumn.

Main stops of the Tesino Arboretum

The Tesino Arboretum is crossed by interconnected trails, allowing visitors to freely decide the length and duration of the route. Highlights include:

  1. Marsh-Peat Bog – A wooden walkway crosses the bog, home to plants adapted to wet soils such as white alder and frangula. From the panoramic viewpoint, you can admire the Lagorai range, the Cime di Rava, and Monte Mezza.
  2. Zen Garden – Inspired by Cretan labyrinths, the Zen Garden is a meditative path where the seven rings represent the main chakras, ideal for relaxation and self-reflection.
  3. Forest – At the end of the bog, a diverse forest opens up, with species such as Acer pseudoplatanus, Fagus sylvatica, and Larix decidua, concluding the path together with the pond.
  4. Pond – A natural ecosystem hosting hydrophyte and helophyte plants and aquatic fauna such as toads. The area has benches for rest and nature observation.
  5. Roccolo and Small Lake – Don’t miss the roccolo, a historic wildlife observation point, and the lake, perfect for a scenic break in the tranquillity of the arboretum.
