Cosy 40 m2 apartment in a superbly quiet location with plenty of natural light and a sun-spoilt, ample balcony overlooking a peaceful, lush green park in Maia Alta/Obermais, Merano's most elegant residential area. The apartment is located in a quiet building with a lift and private parking spaces and has recently been refurbished and equipped with all the amenities of a modern home. There's room for four people: a double bed in the bedroom plus a comfy sofa bed for two in the living room, which during the day transforms back into a cosy couch. The kitchenette has everything you'll need for a delicious meal on the large balcony with its instantly relaxing views of the Val d'Ultimo/Ulten valley and the peaceful private park of the building, which has a sandbox for the little ones and a quiet lawn lined by imposing Himalayan cedars and many more lovingly-tended plants. Trauttmansdorff Castle and its botanical gardens are only five minutes by bus or a ten-minute walk along Sissi's Path – a picturesque trail inspired by the city's most-beloved historic guest, Empress Elisabeth of Austria. The city centre is easily reached on a ten-minute bus ride or on a twenty-minute stroll past the villas and castles of Maia Alta/Obermais down to the river-side passeggiata/Promenade, from where you can explore the scenic Gilf gorge, climb up the stairs to the Gunpowder Tower for stunning views of the surrounding valley or take a left along the river to the magnificent Kurhaus and the quaint old town. The bus stop (Via Ivigna/Ifingerstraße) is a four-minute walk from the accommodation. The location is an ideal starting point for day trips to Merano 2000, Avelengo/Hafling or Bolzano/Bozen etc. and for hiking trips in the nearby Gruppo di Tessa/Texelgruppe Nature Park and many valleys. Access and parking: A private parking spot is available right in front of the building. The apartment is on the second floor of a four-storey building with a lift and is fully equipped with a dishwasher, towels and bed sheets. It will be cleaned before and after your stay. Additional cleaning during your stay can be arranged upon previous request and at an additional charge. House rules: Please note that smoking is only allowed on the balcony. The flat is located in a very quiet apartment building, and all guests are kindly asked to be respectful towards the neighbours and keep the noise within normal levels. About your host: My name is Claudia and I look forward to welcoming you! I run a small day-time café in the city centre and speak German, Italian and English. In my spare time I enjoy mountain sports and travelling. The flat is located right next door to mine and is in fact my daughter's apartment, which we rent out while she is away for work. That makes this flat a cosy place in a nice, quiet neighbourhood in which you will be sure to feel at home at once. Because I am a passionate globetrotter myself, I know just how important it is to feel welcome and able to sit back and relax in your new surroundings. And as a seasoned mountain sports fan, I can give you a number of great suggestions for hiking, mountain biking and via ferrata climbing as well as all sorts of cultural activities in and around Merano. Other key info: The city of Merano/Meran requires all guests above the age of fourteen to pay a fee amounting to EUR 1 per person and night. This so-called visitor's tax must be charged on top of the accommodation price, and your host will pay it directly to the local tourist office on your behalf. The accommodation price is payable either in cash upon arrival or beforehand by bank transfer (EUR only). Unfortunately, we do not currently accept debit or credit cards.
