Celebrating Carnival in Madonna di Campiglio means taking part in a charming and exclusive event, where romance, tradition and historical revival blend allowing the participants to experience something extraordinary. In fact, from February 15 to 20 the splendor of the Habsburg Carnival lives again.
The tradition dates back to the end of the 19 century, at the beginning of the tourist history of the city, when its exclusive hotels frequently hosted the Habsburg Imperial Court - and in particular Princess Sissi and Emperor Franz Joseph - as well as other aristocrats from the European courts.
Every year the magical atmosphere of that time lives again at Carnival: with a program including the arrival of Princess Sissi and the Imperial court wearing historical costumes and being welcomed by the population, sumptuous costume balls and professional dancers, torchlight ski descents, and many collateral cultural events about the Habsburgs.
