San Vito di Cadore
Ski area San Vito di Cadore
The ski area of Upper Cadore consists of the resorts of San Vito di Cadore, Borca di Cadore and Vodo di Cadore, and is included in the larger ski area of Cortina d'Ampezzo. It is suitable for beginners for its sunny ski runs of medium difficulty level. It has also cross-country trails and well equipped areas where children can play, have fun and learn how to ski. A convenient shuttle service allows you to reach all the ski runs of the area.
The ski area of San Vito di Cadore appeals to all skiers thanks to its sunny position and for the fascinating landscape you can admire on the ski slopes: the imposing Antelao, Cima Belprà and the majestic Pelmo, right in front of you. The ski runs, always snow covered thanks also to an efficient snowmaking system, run through forests and clearings, winding between wide and gentle hills or steep slopes.
The ski area has some facilities especially designed for children, like a well equipped school camp and the Snow Parc Neve Sole. There are also two ski schools, a ski hire shop and a wide car park near the slopes. A convenient shuttle service (free for lift pass holders) will take you from the holiday center of Borca di Cadore directly to the ski runs of your choice without taking the car. With the bus you can also reach the other 4 ski resorts of Cortina, or those of Auronzo and Misurina: 140 km slopes at your disposal!
If you love cross-country skiing you will find here two trails in Pian de la Graes, with free admittance to the cross-country skiing center. With the right weather conditions you can also enjoy a smaller trail on Alpe di Senes, or the wonderful trail Deona on the Cibiana Pass, a part of which is floodlit for nighttime skiing.
In the Val Boite valley there are some interesting ski mountaineering trails, especially in the area of San Vito di Cadore.
More than skiing
In Upper Cadore there are many snowshoeing trails, some of them very beautiful, like the ones on Monte Rite, on the clearings of Ciauta or in the secluded forest of Bosconero. There are also some exciting sledding slopes, and if you don't have your own sled, you can hire one at the near hire shop in San Vito di Cadore. In Borca di Cadore you find the Happy Park, an ice rink with view on the Pelmo, ice skates hire service, snack bar and playground. Vodo di Cadore too has a natural ice rink covered by a wood curved roof, with ice skates hire shop and restaurant.
