The Zannes Nature Trail, located in the heart of the Puez-Odle Nature Park, is a circular hiking path designed to make the mountains accessible to everyone—including seniors, families with young children, and people with mobility impairments. It is the first trail in South Tyrol fully suitable for wheelchair users, with a maximum gradient of 8% and a compact, stable surface.
Starting from the Zannes parking area, the route winds through flowering meadows and ancient forests, passes a deer enclosure, and reaches the Kelderer Wiese hut, a lime kiln, and several themed rest areas. Along the way, interactive stations like “Mountains to Touch” and “Nature’s Auditorium” invite visitors to engage with the landscape using all their senses. Wooden panels provide insights into the park’s geology, flora, and fauna, with Braille text curated by the St. Raphael Center for the Blind in Bolzano.
The trail is enriched by wooden sculptures crafted by the protected workshop “Il Ciliegio,” adding an artistic and inclusive dimension to the experience. The entire path is designed to foster a deeper connection with the Alpine environment through education, accessibility, and sensory discovery.
