A simple and charming route that starts and ends at the Church of Carbonare, in the heart of the Alpe Cimbra. The trail winds through bright woodlands, open pastures and small rural hamlets, offering an ideal experience for families and children aged 6+. The area is dominated by the Èlbele hill, a small wooded rise overlooking the Val del Centa to the north and the Langenbisen meadows to the south, framed by the Vigolana and the Becco di Filadonna.
The route follows trail no. 33. The ascent is gentle and steady, suitable even for younger hikers, and crosses an environment rich in beech, hornbeam, spruce and larch. Once you reach the pastures of Malga Èlbele, a wide and relaxing panorama opens up, reflecting the agricultural heritage of the Alpe Cimbra.
Continuing on, you arrive at the village of Virti, a small rural settlement that still preserves the authentic atmosphere of the ancient Cimbrian communities.
The most fascinating stop on the route is the Austro‑Hungarian Command of Virti, a First World War site set inside a deep natural gorge. The remains of the command station and the rock shelters can be visited and offer a unique testimony of the Austro‑Hungarian front.
The area is evocative and peaceful, but requires attention and caution: the terrain may be uneven and present small risks, especially for children.
