Cima Felbe (2,846 m) is one of the most popular classic ski mountaineering tours in Val di Vizze. It is a demanding but highly rewarding route, with an elevation gain of about 1,400â1,500 m and spectacular views of the border Alps and the Dolomites.
Ascent Route
- Start: from the fire brigade parking lot in San Giacomo (1,438 m). Cross the bridge and follow the marked trail âViedalpe / Cima Felbe.â
- Initial forest: keep to the left; after passing a small wooden hut, turn right and follow the steep trail up to 1,750 m.
- Traverse below Croda Rossa: continue flat to the left, then climb diagonally below the rocks of Croda Rossa until reaching the mountain ridge.
- Basin below the summit: continue along the wide basin that opens below the peak.
- Final ascent: tackle the very steep section up to the mountain saddle (2,700 m). From here, turn left to the ski depot.
- Ridge and summit: from the depot, climb the steep ridge towards the western summit and, following the snowy crest, reach the main summit at 2,846 m.
Descent
The descent follows the same route as the ascent, with wide and enjoyable slopes that always require caution.
Additional Notes
