The cycle path connecting Bressanone to Bolzano stretches for about 42 km through the scenic Isarco Valley, winding among alpine landscapes, apple orchards, vineyards and historic towns. It is part of the larger Isarco Valley Cycle Route, which starts at the Brenner Pass and ends in Bolzano, and is one of the most popular routes in the Alps.
The route begins in the center of Bressanone and heads south along the Isarco River. After a few kilometers, you reach Chiusa, a charming medieval town worth a stop. The path continues toward Ponte Gardena, passing below the villages of Villandro and Barbiano, as the valley narrows.
Between Cardano and Prato all’Isarco, the cycle path follows the route of the former railway line, with bridges and short tunnels. Along this stretch, you'll find art installations and murals that accompany cyclists all the way to Bolzano. The final section opens up to wide vineyards and connects to the urban bike network R4, leading directly into Bolzano’s city center.
