On the weekends leading up to Christmas, the small town of Trentino of Ala comes alive with baroque magic: in its splendid historic palaces, the enchanting Christmas Markets take place, where visitors can admire and buy fine fabrics, hand-painted silks and unique handcrafted decorations. Christmas music, aromas of local specialties and workshops dedicated to the little ones make the atmosphere even more special.
Known as the “City of Velvet”, Ala boasts a long tradition in the production of silk velvets, dating back to the 18th century. Even today, strolling among the baroque palaces and the streets of the historic centre, you can relive the charm of that refined era, thanks to a route that intertwines history, art and craftsmanship.
In the courtyards and halls of the most beautiful palaces, artisans and artists display their creations, inspired by the culture and traditions of the area.
Don't miss the chance to breathe the magic of Christmas by joining the guided tours led by the Vellutai, held on the weekends when the markets are open, departing at 5:00 p.m. from the courtyard of Palazzo Taddei. Participation is free of charge, with no reservation required.
