The surroundings of Maranza offer several toboggan runs. The first one is located in the upper Valles valley, near the Malga Fane mountain hamlet, known for its picturesque little church and traditional farmhouses. From here, a toboggan run of about three kilometres with nearly 300 metres of elevation loss starts. Every Wednesday, part of the run is floodlit, allowing for night tobogganing. If you don’t have your own equipment, no worries, sleds can be rented at the Kurzkofel Hut.
The toboggan run at the Jochtal Ski School Kinderpark (also suitable for snow tubes) and the one near Malga Kiener, between Maranza and Vandoies, are reserved for children.
In Maranza, you should also try the 5‑km toboggan run from the Moserhütte hut, which can be reached with a walk of about one hour from the Altfasstal car park. By taking the Gitschberg cable car, you can reach a 2‑km run that leads back down to the village. If you are looking for an adrenaline rush, don’t miss the artificial ice track where international teams train. It is 300 metres long and perfect for racing with friends, as timing equipment and special sleds are available (booking required).
