The Lake of Corlo, also known as Lake Arsiè, lies in the south‑western part of the Province of Belluno, in the heart of the Feltrino area. This striking artificial lake was created by damming the Cismon stream in the 1950s, giving rise to a long, irregular basin nestled between wooded slopes and small villages overlooking the water.
One of its distinctive features is the flat lakeshore area in La Stua, where a natural beach allows visitors to relax in the sun and enjoy the peaceful landscape. The lake stretches south‑east towards the hamlet of Rocca, an ancient settlement that was almost entirely submerged when the reservoir was created in 1954. Today, a few houses and the small church still stand on the shore, silently preserving the memory of the old village.
Rocca is also known for its three bridges, including the spectacular Vittoria suspension bridge, a rope bridge offering an impressive view over the lake and the surrounding mountains.
The Lake of Corlo is an ideal destination for walking enthusiasts: the lakeside loop trail, starting from Rocca, allows visitors to explore the entire basin in about three hours, immersed in a quiet and unspoilt natural environment. The path can also be travelled by mountain bike, making it perfect for those seeking an easy yet scenic excursion.
During the warmer months, the lake becomes a wonderful place to spend time outdoors: you can sunbathe, go fishing or enjoy a picnic along its shores, taking in the tranquillity and beauty of the surrounding landscape.
