The lakes of Sappada

A very well known route in Sappada is that of the Olbe Lakes. They can be reached from the centre of Sappada along path 135, with a total difference in height of around 1000 m. The landscape around the lakes is very rewarding.

The starting point is Borgata Bach, behind the Chapel of St. Anthony, from where trail 135 begins. Start with an ascent and, at the junction of the Monte Ferro Refuge, head in the direction of the Olbe lakes and the Mulo pass.

Once you have reached the Gosse Restaurant, take the path to the left, still marked 135, in the direction of the Olbe Lakes and the Mulo Pass. Continue uphill until you see a small church. Here we are close to the largest lake of the Olbe lakes.

From here, continue towards the Monte Ferro hut along path no. 141; once you have passed the smaller lakes, descend towards the refuge and then return to the starting point by following the signs for Sappada Bach.
